Organ transplant may be considered if sarcoidosis has severely damaged your lungs, heart or liver. Treatment of patients with stage II or III sarcoidosis with oral steroids for six to 24 months improves chest radiograph findings during therapy. For pulmonary sarcoidosis, the initiation dosage is 20 to 40 mg per day of prednisone or its equivalent for one to three months.
